The beginning of last August we lifted our house up, moved it over, and had a new basement poured. Unruh Home Movers of Moundridge came out to move the house. Once we got them off the super bronc and hid it, they were ready to start.:) (Ok, not really, this is on their break.)
First they made holes in the old foundation.
One hole on each side in the front and the back.
One hole on each side in the front and the back.
Then they slide a giant beam through the holes.
They slowly started lifting up the house one end at a time with motorized jacks.
As they lifted they put the cribbing in place. I think it looks like the Jenga game.
It's lifted all the way off the foundation.
They slid the giant beams from underneath the house out to the side to slide the house over on.
The house was balancing on 4 sets of cribbing underneath. Ahhh!!
The house is over and the old basement is ready to come out.
The new basement was poured and the outside look-out wall was framed up.
Dad was making sure everything was plumb.
The house got slid back over and set down on the new foundation. The windows were put in and the walls were made ready to hang sheet rock.
Justin used the chalk line as he hung sheet rock.
Drawing the circle for the canister lights.
Cutting out the circle.
Dad got started taping and mudding.
This is the south end of the family room that looks out to the garden.
Closet space under the stairs.
The north west bedroom. It is now painted tan and green.
The south west bedroom with the look-out windows. It is primed and will probably be painted a orangish color and tan.
Part of the bathroom.
The stairs.
We are definitely getting closer to being finished! We went to pick out carpet the other day and this morning Justin and I picked up the trim. We need to finish a bit of taping and mudding, the sanding, and then the rest of the painting before the carpet can be laid.
Justin and my Dad have done amazing work!!
